To help control the spread of Covid-19 and protect our school-age youth, the education sector initiated online learning for the final term of the current school year.
To help combat the challenges this posed, the team at JEB has donated two Xerox Multi-function devices and four computers to two schools and a development center on both the east and west coasts of the island under our Youth Empowered To Shine “YES” program.
On Tuesday, June 2nd, we joined Ms. Lennel Malzaire Director of Innovation (Ag.) and her team at the Innovation & Career Development Centre (ICDC) in Micoud North for the delivery of a Xerox WorkCentre 5325 & two Lenovo workstations. The Micoud North ICDC forms one of 8 centers stationed in the rural parts of the island and supports both schools and the general community at large. We were impressed with their mission and operations and are confident that our donation will help them deliver on their promises to the Micoud North community.
On Wednesday, June 3rd, we visited the Roseau Combined school where we donated two Lenovo workstations to their computer lab. We then proceeded to the Millet Primary School, where we donated a Xerox WorkCentre 5325 for use in the school’s ICT lab and support of school administration. At these schools, we were received by Principals Ms. Lydia Justin & Ms. Sophia Auguste Lamontaigne respectively. They spoke about their challenges and constraints, and we were happy to learn about the difference that our support will have on the students and their respective institutions.
These made the fourth equipment donation for the year 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, with the previous being made to the Police Welfare Association. Our contribution to schools in need of equipment forms a foundational part of our Corporate Social Responsibility since the inception of our YES program in 2009, and we aim to continue where we can.
